Wike’s remarks on Peter Obi’s political defection was made during a media parley in Abuja on Wednesday, where the FCT Minister took aim at Obi’s political journey ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Wike alleged that Obi’s repeated changes of party affiliation reflected a lack of political stability, claiming that the former Anambra State governor had moved from the All Progressives Grand Alliance to the Labour Party without building lasting structures in either platform.
He further suggested that Obi’s political decisions were driven by convenience rather than ideology, using a local expression to describe what he termed a search for an easy political platform.
Peter Obi and former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso are both reported to have aligned with the Nigeria Democratic Congress ahead of the 2027 elections, a development that has continued to reshape Nigeria’s emerging political landscape.
