Wike Abuja projects 2027 campaign message focuses on infrastructure delivery as the FCT minister highlights ongoing road developments in Abuja
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike has said ongoing infrastructure projects across Abuja will serve as the strongest evidence of performance ahead of the 2027 general elections, arguing that completed and ongoing developments matter more to citizens than political promises.

Wike made the remarks on Wednesday during an inspection tour of the Arterial Road N16 and the Tunga Madaki–Zuba road projects, where he assessed the progress of major infrastructure works being executed across the Federal Capital Territory.
The FCT minister said political activities would not distract the administration from delivering projects aimed at improving transportation, connectivity and urban development in Abuja.
According to Wike, the administration’s record of infrastructure delivery provides a practical account of its performance that Nigerians can assess.
“Voters are more interested in tangible results than political rhetoric,” Wike said, stressing that the government had fulfilled several commitments through ongoing development projects.
During the inspection, Wike expressed satisfaction with progress on the Arterial Road N16 project, which connects communities including Jahi, Gwarimpa and Karsana.
He said contractor CBC Global had provided assurances that the road would be completed by January, adding that the FCT Administration would continue to provide the necessary funding to meet the agreed timeline.
The minister also reviewed work on the 7.3-kilometre Tunga Madaki–Zuba road, being handled by the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC).
Wike praised the contractor’s commitment despite challenges caused by weather conditions and said the project remained on course for completion by December.
He disclosed that approval had been granted for the relocation of electricity poles along the route to allow for the installation of streetlights, which would improve safety and visibility for road users.
The minister further commended Chinese construction companies working on FCT projects, noting their willingness to commence and sustain construction activities based on confidence in government commitments.
He assured residents that funding would continue to be prioritised for critical infrastructure projects while urging contractors to maintain quality standards and deliver within agreed schedules.
Wike said the regular inspection of projects by the FCT Administration was part of efforts to ensure accountability and accelerate development under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The comments come as political discussions begin to intensify ahead of the 2027 elections, with infrastructure delivery, economic performance and public services expected to remain key issues shaping conversations among voters and political actors.
