Victor Ochei resigns APC after reflecting on political direction, ending years with the ruling party in Delta State and signalling a new course
Former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Victor Ochei has resigned from the All Progressives Congress, All Progressives Congress, marking a significant political realignment in Delta State ahead of future electoral cycles.

Victor Ochei resigns APC was confirmed in a letter dated 8 May 2026 addressed to the APC Ward 4 chairman in Onicha-Olona, Aniocha North Local Government Area, with the development later disclosed in a statement issued by his media aide, Austin Edemodu.
In the letter, Ochei stated that his decision followed careful reflection and consultations, describing it as a personal step aimed at pursuing his political convictions and broader vision for public service.
The former Speaker noted that he joined the APC in 2016 and played an active role in strengthening the party’s grassroots structures in Delta State, including efforts to expand its reach and visibility across communities.
He emphasised that his resignation was not driven by bitterness or disagreement with party members but stemmed from a desire to “chart a new course” in his political journey, signalling a shift in alignment rather than a rupture.
Ochei also appealed to his supporters and associates to remain peaceful and committed to democratic values, even as he withheld details of his next political destination.
