Ulasi Raises Stark Warning Over PDP Crisis in 2027

Ulasi issues 2027 warning over PDP unity concerns, questions the party’s ability to challenge Tinubu, and praises Peter Obi’s leadership vision

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain Dan Ulasi, a senior political figure within Nigeria’s opposition ranks, during an interview on Arise News in Abuja, Nigeria, expressed deep concern over what he described as a worsening internal crisis in the PDP, warning that the party may struggle to mount a credible challenge against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

Dan Ulasi said the PDP is currently plagued by factional divisions and lacks the unity required to present a strong and credible presidential candidate.

His remarks form part of what has become widely discussed as the Ulasi PDP 2027 warning, highlighting growing unease within the party’s ranks.

The PDP chieftain stated that internal contradictions and leadership struggles are weakening the party’s structure, adding that ongoing political processes involving Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike could further complicate efforts to rebuild cohesion.

Ulasi was particularly blunt in his assessment, noting that he does not see the PDP in its current form as capable of challenging President Tinubu effectively.

He suggested that unless internal disputes are resolved, the party risks further fragmentation ahead of the next election cycle.

He also indicated that the situation within the PDP has become so troubling that he may reconsider his membership if proper clarifications are not provided on the party’s direction and leadership structure.

Despite his criticism, Dan Ulasi offered praise for Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, describing him as a politician with a clear and structured vision for Nigeria.

He said his personal interactions with Obi have consistently reinforced his optimism about the country’s future.

Ulasi recalled a long-standing relationship with Peter Obi, noting that their association dates back to his time as chairman of the National Republican Convention during Obi’s early political ambitions in Anambra State.

He added that Obi has maintained regular contact, including multiple visits in recent times.
