Trump Announces Pause on Migration from Third World Countries

US President Donald Trump announces a permanent pause on migration from Third World countries, citing security concerns after White House attack.

US President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that his administration will “permanently pause” migration from all “Third World Countries,” following a shooting near the White House that he attributed to immigration vetting failures under former President Joe Biden.

Trump did not specify which countries are affected or explain what he meant by “permanently pause.”

He also indicated that the suspension would include immigration cases approved during the Biden administration.

“I will permanently pause migration from all Third World Countries to allow the US system to fully recover, terminate all of the millions of Biden illegal admissions, including those signed by Sleepy Joe Biden’s autopen, and remove anyone who is not a net asset to the United States,” Trump said on his social media platform, Truth Social.

The President added that his administration would end all federal benefits for non-citizens, “denaturalize migrants who undermine domestic tranquility,” and deport foreign nationals deemed security risks, public charges, or “non compatible with Western civilization.”

Trump’s remarks followed the death of a National Guard member shot near the White House in an ambush allegedly carried out by Afghan national Rahmanullah Lakanwal, 29.

Government records indicate Lakanwal was granted asylum this year under a resettlement programme established after the US military withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021.

Earlier on Thursday, Department of Homeland Security officials confirmed that Trump had ordered a comprehensive review of asylum approvals under Biden, as well as Green Cards issued to citizens of nineteen countries.

US Citizenship and Immigration Services has temporarily halted processing of immigration requests for Afghan nationals, pending further review.

Trump claimed that hundreds of thousands of individuals entered the United States “unvetted and unchecked” during the evacuation following Afghanistan’s government collapse.

The White House and immigration authorities have not provided immediate comment on Trump’s statements.

Analysts note that the measures, if implemented, could have wide-ranging implications for US immigration policy and diplomatic relations.
