Timipre Marlin Sylva is a Nigerian politician who has held significant positions at both state and federal levels.
Born on July 7, 1964, Sylva served as the Governor of Bayelsa State from 2007 to 2012.
During his governorship, his administration initiated numerous infrastructure projects, including road construction, the development of the Yenagoa Business District, and improvements in electricity supply.
He also attracted the Nigerian Law School to Yenagoa and focused on educational development, including foreign scholarships.
After his tenure as governor, Sylva remained active in national politics. He later served as the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources from 2019 to 2023, where he played a crucial role in the passage and enactment of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) 2021, a landmark legislation aimed at reforming Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
