Abba Kabir Yusuf is the current Governor of Kano State, having assumed office in 2023.
A protégé of Rabiu Kwankwaso, Yusuf’s political journey has been closely intertwined with the Kwankwasiyya movement.
He previously served as a Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport during Kwankwaso’s second term as governor. His victory in the 2023 gubernatorial election, under the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), marked a significant shift in Kano politics, bringing the Kwankwasiyya ideology back to the forefront.
Yusuf’s administration is expected to prioritize good governance, youth empowerment, and infrastructure development, aiming to deliver on the promises made during his campaign.
