Murtala Hammanyero Nyako is a distinguished Nigerian politician and retired naval officer who served as the Governor of Adamawa State from 2007 to 2014.
Before his foray into politics, Nyako had a highly successful career in the Nigerian Navy, reaching the rank of Vice Admiral and serving as the Chief of Naval Staff.
His transition to politics saw him elected governor under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Nyako’s tenure as governor was marked by various agricultural initiatives, as he is known for his passion for farming.
Despite facing political challenges and an impeachment, he remains a respected elder statesman in Adamawa, recognized for his military background and contributions to the state.
