The closed-door session at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa brought together the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.
While the details of the discussions were not publicly disclosed, political analysts view the meeting as a decisive step by President Tinubu to personally mediate a standoff that has polarised Rivers State politics and hindered governance in recent months.
Observers noted that the engagement signals the federal government’s intent to foster dialogue and reduce friction among key stakeholders in the state.
Political commentators described the intervention as “timely and necessary” for stabilising the volatile political environment.
Officials familiar with the meeting stated that the discussions focused on promoting unity, strengthening governance structures, and exploring solutions to longstanding disputes within the state’s political apparatus.
No official communique has yet been issued from the Presidency or Rivers State government, and it remains unclear what immediate outcomes, if any, emerged from the engagement.

The intervention comes amid rising concerns over political gridlock in Rivers State, which observers warn could have broader implications for local development, service delivery, and political stability ahead of the next electoral cycle.
