Taraba Governor Agbu Kefas praises Nigerian Army for visible security improvements and pledges ongoing support for deployed troops across the state
Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas has credited the sustained presence of Nigerian Army personnel with “visible and measurable improvements” in the state’s security environment.

The governor made the remarks during a visit to the Army Headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday, accompanied by federal legislators from Taraba and members of the Executive Council of the International Institute for African Defense Security and Governance.
Governor Kefas commended the “strong inter-agency cooperation” among security agencies operating in the state and highlighted areas requiring reinforced military presence.
He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting the Nigerian Army, including providing accommodation for deployed troops, and pledged to maintain a united front against insecurity.
Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, emphasised the Army’s constitutional mandate to support civil authorities in maintaining peace and security nationwide.
He described Taraba State as strategically significant due to its terrain and security dynamics.
Lieutenant General Shaibu praised Governor Kefas for “decisive leadership and effective coordination” with security agencies.
He noted that government support, including the donation of land and provision of operational equipment, has acted as a critical force multiplier, enhancing the effectiveness of military operations in the region.
The COAS appealed for continued partnership and requested stable electricity for the 20 Model Battalion, Sarti, and 93 Battalion, stressing that improved power supply would boost operational efficiency and troop welfare.
He also urged intensified public sensitisation across Taraba State, encouraging citizens to provide timely and credible intelligence to aid security operations.

“Community cooperation remains a decisive weapon in defeating terrorists and other criminal elements,” he said.
