Ogah, who declared support for the reelection of Governor Alex Otti while reiterating loyalty to President Bola Tinubu, drew sharp criticism from the APC leadership.
Addressing journalists at the party’s secretariat in Umuahia on Monday, the party’s Legal Adviser, Vigenus Chukwudi Nwankwo, explained that Ogah had been suspended at ward and local government levels since 2022.
“The party cannot suspend him again but only reaffirm the existing disciplinary action,” Nwankwo stated, citing Article 22, Section 2, Subsection 2 of the APC constitution.
He emphasised that Ogah’s recent statements could undermine the party’s prospects in the 2027 governorship election in Abia.
Deputy Chairman Chinedu Ihesielo congratulated the 17 local government chairmen on successful party congresses and urged members to prioritise unity and collective efforts to strengthen the party ahead of future elections.
During the meeting, the APC also endorsed Donatus Nwankpa for the role of National Welfare Secretary at the forthcoming national convention scheduled for March 28, 2027, citing his experience and commitment to party structures.

The party reaffirmed its determination to reclaim political leadership in Abia in the next electoral cycle, while stressing that public statements by suspended members could damage its credibility and weaken its political standing.
