Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, on Friday in Port Harcourt, restated his administration’s commitment to the “Rivers First” principle as he marked three years in office, describing the policy as the guiding framework behind his government’s decisions and development agenda.

Governor Fubara said the Rivers First policy Fubara administration has remained focused on improving the welfare of citizens since he assumed office, stressing that every programme executed over the past three years has been designed with the interests of Rivers people in mind.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Onwuka Nzeshi, the governor noted that major investments in road infrastructure were intended to strengthen connectivity between rural and urban communities while stimulating economic growth across the state.
He listed key projects such as the Port Harcourt Ring Road, the Trans-Kalabari Highway, the Elele/Umudioga/Egbeda/Ubimini/Ikiri/Omoku Road and the Ngo-Atlantic/Oyorokoto Road as part of efforts to open up new economic corridors and attract investment to Rivers State.
Governor Fubara expressed gratitude to residents for their continued support, describing their confidence in his leadership as a responsibility he does not take lightly.
He pledged that public resources would continue to be managed with transparency and in the interest of the people.
According to him, the progress recorded so far reflects the collective effort of citizens and government working in unity, adding that collaboration remains essential to sustaining development momentum.
He said, “What we have achieved in three years is proof that when government and citizens pull in the same direction, progress is possible.”
The governor further reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive governance, promising to listen more, lead with transparency, and ensure that every policy and project reflects public interest.
While acknowledging that more work still lies ahead, Fubara urged residents, including youths, elders, women, traders, farmers, teachers and professionals, to continue contributing to the growth of the state.

He also used the occasion to felicitate with Rivers people and Nigerians on 27 years of uninterrupted democratic governance, describing it as a milestone that reflects national resilience and unity despite political and ethnic diversity.
