The President Tinubu Adamawa Visit comes less than 48 hours after President Tinubu’s trip to Kebbi State.
Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, announced the visit on Sunday in a statement titled President Tinubu to visit Yola, interact with leaders, inaugurate completed projects.
Projects scheduled for inauguration in Yola and Jimeta include the eight lane Galadima Aminu Road linking Gimba with the state capital and a model school with pre primary, primary and junior secondary sections.
Other projects include a new multipurpose hall, a remodelled high court, a newly built officers’ complex and a renovated Government House.
Ahead of the President Tinubu Adamawa Visit, major streets in Yola witnessed a visible surge in All Progressives Congress branding.
Several Peoples Democratic Party flags and billboards were removed and replaced with APC insignia, especially along the Yola International Airport Road.
The development fuelled renewed speculation over the political future of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Workers were observed repainting road kerbs in black and white, while heavily armed security personnel deployed armoured vehicles to strategic locations to ensure watertight security.
Officials of the All Progressives Congress at both state and national levels confirmed ongoing discussions with Governor Fintiri.
A serving member of the House of Representatives from Adamawa State, who requested anonymity, claimed that Governor Fintiri had briefed senior PDP figures on plans to defect shortly after the President’s visit.
The Adamawa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party dismissed the significance of the disappearance of party flags.
The party’s publicity secretary, Victor Dogo, told The PUNCH that President Tinubu’s visit to inaugurate projects with direct impact on residents reflected governance cooperation rather than partisan realignment.
Victor Dogo stated that political strength was not measured by street branding.
Victor Dogo added that it was not a criminal offence for any individual to change political affiliation.
Governor Fintiri had earlier told journalists that politics centred on service to the people and that he would align with the wishes of his constituents.
Speculation about Governor Fintiri’s defection has circulated since 2024.
In an earlier interview, Adamawa APC spokesman Mohammed Abdullahi said discussions were ongoing and expressed confidence that Governor Fintiri would join the ruling party before the 2027 general election.
National Vice Chairman of the APC North East, Mustapha Salihu, also confirmed in December 2025 that negotiations were continuing, describing political association as a constitutional right.
Another member of the House of Representatives from Adamawa State, speaking anonymously from Abuja, maintained that the President Tinubu Adamawa Visit formed part of broader political engagements.
