Prince William and Princess Catherine warmly welcome President Tinubu to the UK during a historic state visit at Windsor Castle
Their Royal Highnesses Prince William and Princess Catherine, the Prince and Princess of Wales, formally welcomed Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu at the Fairmont Hotel Windsor, marking a significant moment in the first state visit by a Nigerian leader to the UK in 37 years.

The royal couple, representing King Charles III, greeted the Nigerian first family upon arrival, initiating the day’s official engagements.
This was the first formal royal reception for President Tinubu and the First Lady since landing in the United Kingdom.
Following the meet-and-greet, Prince William and Princess Catherine accompanied the presidential couple on a short drive to Datchet Road, Windsor, where King Charles III and Queen Camilla joined them for a ceremonial welcome.
The group then embarked on a traditional horse-drawn carriage procession to Windsor Castle, where a Guard of Honour awaited.
The King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery fired a royal salute, and the Nigerian and British national anthems were performed, underscoring the significance of the occasion.
This two-day visit, hosted by King Charles III, highlights the deepening diplomatic, cultural, and economic ties between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

The state visit will culminate in a formal banquet at Windsor Castle in honor of the Nigerian delegation.
