PDP Vanguard Demands Firm Action as Jungudo Faces Expulsion

PDP Vanguard urges disciplinary action as Haruna Jungudo is accused of anti-party activities and sabotage in Bauchi State

Bauchi, Nigeria, 8 December 2025 – The PDP Vanguard, a political advocacy group within the Peoples Democratic Party, on Monday demanded the expulsion of factional caretaker chairman Haruna Jungudo, accusing him of indiscipline, anti-party activities and behaviour it said threatens the party’s unity.

The call was issued in a statement by the group’s Publicity Secretary, Isyaku Adamu, who said Jungudo’s alleged disregard for party directives and frequent engagement with opposition figures had undermined the PDP’s stability across Bauchi State.

Adamu said the party was built on loyalty and respect for leadership, adding that no figure should be permitted to weaken structures painstakingly developed over years.

Adamu said documented complaints indicated that Jungudo had worked against PDP candidates during key elections and sponsored media efforts to ridicule the party’s leadership.

He urged the State Working Committee and the National Working Committee to invoke disciplinary measures in line with Sections 58 and 59 of the party’s constitution. He described decisive action as vital to protect the party’s cohesion and future electoral performance.

The renewed tensions follow Jungudo’s appointment on 5 December by a faction loyal to former Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike, which named him chairman of a 13-member caretaker committee mandated to oversee the party’s affairs for 30 days.

The rival appointment has intensified internal rifts and fuelled doubts over the legitimacy of competing structures in the state.

Responding through his spokesperson, Umar Ahmad, Jungudo dismissed the calls for expulsion, insisting that those pushing the petition lacked legal authority. Ahmad said the Jama’are A Ward executive, where Jungudo is registered, was invalid due to an allegedly ineligible chairman.

He added that Jungudo had twice notified the dissolved Bauchi State Working Committee about the irregularities before the national body inaugurated a new caretaker structure.

Ahmad questioned the legitimacy of those calling for sanctions, arguing that no group acting outside the recognised PDP framework could undermine Jungudo’s position.

He maintained that Jungudo remained the lawful chairman of the party in Bauchi and insisted that actions taken by rival factions carried no legal weight.

Despite the escalating dispute, Adamu reaffirmed the G6 Vanguard’s loyalty to the PDP and urged members to remain calm.

He said the party’s disciplinary bodies must act with integrity to restore order, protect credibility and prevent further fragmentation.
