PDP Confirms Unity, Plans Takeover of National Secretariat

PDP confirms unity under Abdulrahman Mohammed, plans to reclaim national secretariat following Federal High Court ruling

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has affirmed its unity under the leadership of Chairman Abdulrahman Mohammed and announced plans to reclaim its national secretariat on Monday.

The announcement was made on Thursday by the party’s Factional National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, following a meeting of political party leaders with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Anyanwu cited a recent judgment by the Federal High Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, which declared the party’s November 15–16, 2025 convention null and void, as a decisive step in resolving internal disputes.

He insisted that no individual outside the National Working Committee has the authority to represent or administer the party.

“It’s very clear Nigerians are aware we had internal challenges, but the Federal High Court has confirmed that the problem of PDP is over,” Anyanwu said.

“No other person has full powers to speak for the party, work, or administer it except the National Working Committee led by Abdulrahman Mohammed.”

Addressing the delay in taking over the secretariat, Anyanwu explained that the police had sealed the premises, and a competing group’s attempt to reopen it in court was dismissed.

“So by Monday, we’re taking over the office. Party members are already happy because those who were concerned about contesting the next election now have nothing to worry about. The matter is settled,” he added.
