The directive, issued by the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, follows a surge in reports of violence, public disturbances, and misconduct linked to the end-of-school-year events.
The commissioner described the celebrations as having “degenerated into chaos” in recent years, with some students allegedly engaging in anti-social behaviour during the unofficial gatherings.
He stressed that the Oyo State Government is committed to maintaining a safe, distraction-free environment for adolescents during their critical formative years.
“Schools must remain free of violence, bullying, and intimidation to protect our young learners,” the commissioner said.
Oyo State bans sign-out celebrations to reinforce discipline and refocus attention on educational standards, with the ministry vowing to strictly monitor compliance across the board.
Principals have also been directed to recommend only government-approved textbooks, chosen for their quality and relevance to the national curriculum.
The state warned that unauthorised levies and hidden fees will not be tolerated, as it works to eliminate financial barriers to education.
Speaking at the same event, TESCOM Chairperson Olubukola Oladipupo urged school staff to avoid impulsive petitioning and instead embrace open dialogue with educational authorities.
Permanent Secretary Bamidele Oyinloye also underlined the need for consistent adherence to regulations, professional conduct, and effective school leadership.
Leaders of key education unions, including ANCOPSS and the NUT, commended Governor Seyi Makinde for prioritising teacher welfare and ensuring accountability in the education sector.
