Igbokwe worried Peter Obi and Atiku will underestimate Tinubu, the APC chieftain writes, claiming a huge turnout could settle 2027 by noon
Joe Igbokwe, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos, wrote on Facebook on Monday, 14 September 2026, that he was worried about opposition figures challenging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.

The post named Peter Gregory Obi, candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress.
“I am worried about those who are challenging PBAT. They are underrating his capacity, the grace of God following him and the unlimited followers,” Joe Igbokwe wrote.
The same post claimed a heavy turnout of President Bola Tinubu’s supporters could settle the election early. “If all Tinubu’s supporters move to vote that day, I can tell you that by 12 noon it will be over. PBAT is an enigma. If you know, you know.”
Joe Igbokwe has long spoken as a loyalist of President Bola Tinubu and of Lagos APC politics. The warning fits that record.
It is not an official party communique and it offers no turnout figures, poll numbers or organisational proof. “Unlimited followers” is a slogan, not a register check.
Peter Gregory Obi and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar have spent the week answering other attacks: money-in-America talk in one case, palace “no vacancy” talk in the other.
Neither camp has treated Joe Igbokwe’s Facebook note as a central text. The 2027 contest remains more than a year away.
INEC has not fixed a date. No result can be called at noon on a day that has not been set.
Nigerian elections are decided by turnout, machinery, law and the count, not by a supporter’s confidence on social media. Joe Igbokwe is entitled to worry on his candidate’s behalf.

Opposition campaigns are entitled to treat the worry as noise. Voters will settle the argument when they are asked.
