Hon. Ibraheem Shittu, representing Saki West constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC), said he was not part of the lawmakers who sanctioned the controversial loan.

In a statement posted on his Facebook page and obtained on Wednesday evening, Shittu explained that the House is currently on a six-week recess, yet an emergency session was convened on August 19 and perfected on August 26 to approve the loan without informing all members.

“I want it to be on record that I was not among other lawmakers who approved a loan of ₦300 billion in an emergency sitting during our recess,” Shittu said.

He questioned the rationale behind the borrowing, pointing out that Oyo State now enjoys a 500% increase in FAAC allocations.

“Why take this loan? Why is the loan an emergency, and why was the sitting not communicated to all the honourable members?” he asked, adding the hashtag #HoldYourGovernorsResponsible.
