Oyo APC Confirms Zoning for 2027 Elections, Adopts Committee Recommendations

Oyo APC adopts zoning recommendations for state executive positions, urging unity and selection of qualified candidates ahead of 2027 elections

The committee, inaugurated with Mr Afeez Bolaji Repete as Secretary, is tasked with ensuring a fair and consensus-driven distribution of positions across all 33 local government areas in the state.

In a statement issued by the state secretariat and signed by Wasiu Sadare, the APC said the zoning recommendations were officially adopted at a stakeholders’ meeting held on Sunday.

The statement commended members for their dedication to peace and unity, urging them to maintain this spirit as preparations for the 2027 general elections intensify.

“In line with directives from the national leadership of our great Party, stakeholders have agreed to continue the consensus approach that successfully guided the Ward and Local Government Area Congresses. This methodology will now guide the State Congress,” the statement read.

The Ibikunle-led committee has begun its assignment, notifying each local government chapter of the positions designated for its representative on the State Executive Committee.

Stakeholders in all 33 local government areas are expected to convene and submit nominees for mandatory screening by a special team from Abuja.

The APC emphasised the importance of selecting highly qualified candidates.

“We urge leaders across all local government areas to ensure that only the best candidates are considered for nomination, as the strength of our Party depends on the quality of its leadership,” the statement said.
