Oyo APC Candidate Sharafadeen Alli says grievances from the party’s governorship primary will soon be resolved ahead of the 2027 election
Senator Sharafadeen Alli, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2027 Oyo State election, has expressed confidence that disagreements arising from the party’s governorship primary will soon be resolved, saying reconciliation efforts are already gathering momentum.

Speaking during a media briefing at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat in Ibadan on Monday, Senator Alli said the APC leadership was working to unite members after a fiercely contested primary that featured 11 aspirants.
The briefing was attended by the party’s deputy governorship candidate, Adesoji Adedeji, Oyo APC Chairman Chief Moses Adeyemo, and other party leaders.
The APC governorship primary produced Senator Alli as the party’s standard-bearer, but several unsuccessful aspirants publicly expressed dissatisfaction with the outcome, raising concerns about party unity ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Addressing journalists, Senator Alli acknowledged that post-primary grievances were expected in a competitive political process but insisted that the situation was being handled through dialogue and consultation.
“It is not out of place to see aggrieved aspirants in a strong political party like the APC which paraded an array of well-qualified and competent individuals who had shown interest in contesting for the party’s ticket,” Senator Alli said.
Senator Alli noted that the party had established a reconciliation committee to engage dissatisfied aspirants and members, adding that he had personally begun meeting with key stakeholders to rebuild confidence within the party.
“I want to assure you all that grievances from the fallout of the gubernatorial primary election of the party in the state would soon be resolved. I have been meeting people. I even met one of the G6 members today,” Senator Alli said.
The senator stressed that every aspirant who sought the APC ticket possessed the credentials to lead the state, but only one candidate could ultimately emerge through the party’s internal democratic process.
Senator Alli also disclosed that the APC had formally uploaded his candidacy, signalling the completion of the nomination process.
The reconciliation effort represents an important step for the party as it seeks to present a united front before the 2027 governorship election.
Internal divisions following party primaries have historically affected electoral fortunes in several Nigerian states, making post-primary unity a strategic priority for political parties.
The campaign now faces the task of consolidating support across the party’s various factions while preparing to challenge the incumbent administration in what is expected to be one of the state’s most closely contested elections.
