The requests were contained in a letter addressed to the Speaker of the Assembly, Adeoye Aribasoye, on Monday, according to a statement issued on Tuesday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Olayinka Oyebode.
Oyebanji asked lawmakers to screen and confirm Dayo Apata, SAN, as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice; Akintunde Oyebode as Commissioner for Finance; and Dr Oyebanji Filani as Commissioner for Health and Human Services.
The governor also requested approval to appoint 10 special advisers to support the day-to-day administration of the state.
According to the statement, the proposed appointments are intended to establish key components of the administration early, maintain continuity in critical sectors and strengthen public service delivery.
Oyebode said the governor considered the finance and health portfolios particularly important to the effective take-off of his second term, given prevailing developments in the country.
The statement also noted the constitutional importance of the office of the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.
Oyebanji’s requests come after the inauguration of his second-term administration on October 16.
The governor had also approved appointments in the power, road infrastructure and transportation sectors in the preceding week.
