Deputy Governor of Edo State, Dennis Idahosa, Predicts 98% APC Victory in Ovia Federal Constituency Election

Ovia Federal Constituency election heats up as Edo Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa predicts a 98% APC victory. He cites Governor Okpebholo’s strides and Omosede Igbinedion’s candidacy as key to securing overwhelming support in the August 16 by-election

Ovia Federal Constituency election prospects look strong for the All Progressives Congress (APC) as Edo State Deputy Governor, Dennis Idahosa, has predicted a sweeping 98% win for the party in the upcoming by-election scheduled for August 16, 2025.

Idahosa, who recently vacated the seat in the House of Representatives to become deputy governor, made the bold projection during a campaign stop in Uhen and Isiuwa communities, both in Ovia North East Local Government Area.

Addressing party faithful, Idahosa emphasized the double advantage the APC holds — a popular candidate in Omosede Igbinedion, and the development milestones of Governor Monday Okpebholo.

“I can assure you that the APC will get 98 per cent of the votes in the election. Omosede is from this local government. This is her base,” Idahosa said.

He urged party members not to be complacent and called for massive voter mobilization to ensure the win is secured early on election day, even suggesting victory could be announced by 1 pm if the turnout is strong.

Omosede Igbinedion, the APC candidate and former PDP lawmaker, expressed gratitude for the deputy governor’s support and pledged to complete ongoing electrification projects, boost healthcare delivery, and provide agricultural inputs for rural communities.

“I joined APC because it’s the only political ship that is still afloat — a beautiful yacht, ready for everyone,” she said.
