Edo APC Victory Looms as Governor Declares Opposition Collapse

Edo APC victory is imminent, says Governor Okpebholo, predicting total opposition collapse by 2027 due to growing support and mass defections in Edo Central

Edo APC victory took center stage on Saturday as Governor Monday Okpebholo confidently declared that the opposition in Edo State would completely collapse ahead of the 2027 general election.

Speaking in Uromi at the flag-off of the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign for the August 16 Edo Central senatorial by-election, Okpebholo said the upcoming poll would serve as proof that rival parties have lost relevance in the state.

“This is a test for 2027. I can tell you that before then, there will be no opposition in Edo State anymore,” the governor asserted.

He emphasized the APC’s developmental achievements as the driving force behind what he calls the inevitable Edo APC victory.

Okpebholo expressed confidence in APC candidate Hon. Joseph Ikpea, predicting a clean sweep of all five local government areas and 51 wards in the district.

The rally also featured a symbolic show of strength as top defectors from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party—including Alhaji Esiwele Musa, Abraham Osazuwa, Sunny Ejie, and Robert Okoneme—officially joined the APC.

APC State Chairman Jarrett Tenebe welcomed the newcomers, pledging equality and full inclusion.

“We are one family,” he said. “The strength of the APC lies in our unity and discipline.”

Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa reinforced the sentiment, crediting Edo’s progress to Okpebholo’s rapport with President Bola Tinubu.

“This election is our first step in showing appreciation to the President,” he noted, insisting on nothing less than a 90% victory.

With the APC presenting Joseph Ikpea as the senatorial candidate and launching door-to-door campaigns led by high-ranking party figures like Victor Edoror and Gen. Cecil Esekhaigbe (rtd), the party appears poised for what could be a landslide victory.
