The initiative was announced in a joint statement signed by Engr. Ikenna Ellis-Ezenekwe and Mazi Chinwoke Emmanuel Onah, President-General and Secretary-General of the Abuja ICA respectively.
The groups said the campaign is aimed at encouraging eligible voters to actively participate in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise being conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
According to the statement, the PVC has become a critical tool for civic engagement and political participation, which they described as essential for safeguarding community interests.
The association warned against voter apathy, urging residents to take advantage of the registration window running from May 11 to July 10.
It described the PVC as a powerful instrument for political representation and urged Igbo residents to ensure they are fully registered ahead of the polls.
The group also stressed that the Igbo community represents a significant voting population across Nigeria and called for greater political awareness and participation.
To support the exercise, the association announced plans to establish assistance centres and a helpline to help residents complete online pre-registration, biometric capture, corrections, and voter transfers.
It also called on political leaders of Igbo extraction, including Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Hon. Benjamin Kalu, to support the mobilisation effort.
