Aminu Tambuwal withdraws ADC race as party endorses Faruk Yabo and Manir Dan’iya as consensus candidates for Sokoto 2027 elections
Former Speaker of the House of Representatives and lawmaker representing Sokoto South Senatorial District, Aminu Tambuwal, has withdrawn from the 2027 senatorial race ahead of the general elections.

The development comes as the African Democratic Congress, ADC, announced a new consensus arrangement for key positions in Sokoto State, reshaping its electoral strategy.
Following Tambuwal’s withdrawal, the party endorsed former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Faruk Yabo, as its consensus candidate for the senatorial seat.

Tambuwal, a former presidential aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party during the 2023 elections, had previously stepped down for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
In a related development, the ADC also announced Manir Muhammad Dan’iya, former Deputy Governor of Sokoto State under Tambuwal’s administration, as its consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 governorship election.
Party stakeholders described the selections as part of efforts to consolidate support and strengthen internal unity ahead of the upcoming polls.
