Ogun PDP vows to resist APC intimidation in 2027 elections, pledging voter protection and strong party presence across the state
The Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State has pledged to resist any attempts by the All Progressives Congress to intimidate voters in the 2027 elections, declaring the era of APC bullying opposition parties over.

The statement was made on Sunday by PDP State Chairman Abayomi Tella during an interview in Abeokuta.
Tella accused the APC of deploying violence, coercion, and voter intimidation to secure victories in both the 2023 general elections and the recent Remo Federal Constituency by-election.
He insisted that the PDP is prepared to confront such tactics in 2027, asserting that the party now enjoys widespread popular support.
“The days when the APC could intimidate opposition parties during elections are over. Whatever they bring in 2027, we are ready to match it because we now have the people solidly behind us. Their shenanigans are over, and the 2027 election is going to be between APC and Nigerians, not even against PDP or any other party,” Tella said.
The chairman emphasised that the PDP would remain committed to democratic principles despite any violence, noting that the people’s support would ensure the party’s success.
He added that defectors from the PDP to the APC often become sidelined, lacking influence in their new party due to their absence from foundational structures.
“It is no longer enviable for a politician to cross from PDP to APC because most of our members who have gone there have become onlookers. When the members of the party were working for their victory, the defectors were not there, so they are still treated as outsiders,” Tella said.
Tella also reaffirmed the resilience of the PDP in Ogun State, highlighting efforts to maintain internal unity and consolidate the party’s base ahead of the next political cycle.
He described the party as deeply rooted and unwavering, capable of overcoming any challenges.

“As far as I’m concerned, PDP is here to stay. The party can never die. If you try to kill it today, it will resurrect tomorrow. We are making frantic efforts to keep our people together,” he stated.
