Speaking at a press conference in Umuahia on Monday, State Coordinator Chukwuebuka Ezennaka warned against voter apathy and the selling of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), stressing that such actions would only strengthen political “enemies of democracy.”
According to him, refusing to participate in elections amounts to endorsing rigging.
He therefore launched the “Go Get Your PVC” campaign, urging Nigerians of voting age to register with INEC, while encouraging those relocating to transfer their voting rights.
“Having and correctly using PVCs will make election rigging more difficult,” Ezennaka said, adding that Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, still believes in re-setting Nigeria and will secure even greater victories in 2027.
INEC data shows that of the 2,120,808 registered voters in Abia in 2023, 91.9% collected their PVCs.
Ezennaka promised that the sensitisation campaign will push the figure to four million by 2027.
