Ned Nwoko Vows Court Battle Over APC Senatorial Primary Result

Ned Nwoko APC primary dispute deepens as the APC chieftain rejects results, alleges irregularities and vows to challenge the outcome in court

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ned Nwoko, has announced plans to challenge the outcome of the party’s senatorial primary election in court, following allegations of irregularities in the exercise held across Delta State.

Ned Nwoko made the declaration, insisting that he won the primary based on ward-level results and evidence he claims were properly documented during the exercise.

The dispute intensified political debate within the party, coming amid competing claims over the legitimacy of the final announcement that declared former Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as the winner of the senatorial ticket.

Nwoko rejected the outcome, arguing that the results announced did not reflect the actual votes cast by delegates across the wards.

He further alleged that midway into the process, party officials directed that results should no longer be announced at ward level, but instead be collated and declared later at the national headquarters in Abuja.

According to him, the directive created confusion and undermined transparency in the conduct of the election.

“We have submitted them. Halfway through the primary, we got a message on our phones that no results should be announced at the ward level, that they should be collected and then announced later at the national level in Abuja,” he said.

Nwoko added that despite compliance with the directive, the eventual announcement did not align with the figures his camp recorded from the field, prompting his decision to seek judicial redress.

He also stated his belief that the matter may require intervention at the highest level of the party, expressing confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would take interest in resolving the dispute.

The APC has yet to issue an official response to the allegations at the time of filing this report.
