Lawan APC consensus candidate Yobe North as Ahmad Lawan emerges APC choice for Yobe North senatorial district ahead of 2027 elections
Former President of the 9th Senate, Senator Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan, has been declared the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Yobe North Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Lawan secures APC consensus ticket for Yobe North decision was reached during a stakeholders’ affirmation exercise held in Gashu’a, the headquarters of Bade Local Government Area of Yobe State, following consultations among party leaders and stakeholders.
The process was attended by APC leaders across different levels, including state and national stakeholders, who endorsed Lawan after what was described as extensive consultation and internal consensus-building.
Shortly after his emergence, Senator Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan described the development as a victory for democracy, unity of purpose and collective commitment to the progress of Yobe North.
In a post on his verified Facebook page, Lawan expressed gratitude to Allah and commended party leaders, including the APC national leadership, Governor Mai Mala Buni, Minister of Police Affairs Ibrahim Gaidam, and other stakeholders for their support.
He said the endorsement followed a transparent process that included screening and consultations, adding that he remains committed to delivering democratic dividends to his constituents.
In a related development, stakeholders in Yobe South also affirmed Senator Ibrahim Mohammed Bomai as the consensus candidate for the senatorial district following a separate consultation meeting held in Potiskum.
The meeting, attended by party leaders, youth groups and political stakeholders, was presided over by the Speaker of the Yobe State House of Assembly, Buba Mashio.
Bomai expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in him, pledging renewed commitment to representing the interests of his constituents.

Meanwhile, Governor Mai Mala Buni was also reported to have emerged unopposed as the APC candidate for Yobe East, completing the party’s senatorial lineup in the state ahead of the 2027 elections.
