The directive, issued during a committee engagement with community representatives, also endorsed a proposal by Dr Olajide Babatunde, Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on E-GIS.
The proposal prescribes a 250-metre setback from the Third Mainland Bridge and an additional 250-metre buffer beyond the power line corridor.
Under the resolution, all forms of development within the affected zones are prohibited until further notice.
Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, represented by Majority Leader Mr Noheem Adams, said the Assembly, in collaboration with the Lagos State Building Control Agency and the E-GIS Office, had directed each community to establish a 10-member committee.
Mr Noheem Adams explained that the committees must reflect broad representation, including women, youths, students and traditional leaders, to ensure that residents’ concerns are addressed and a durable resolution achieved.
The lawmaker stressed the need for unity and cooperation among stakeholders.
Mr Noheem Adams further disclosed that the State Executive Council is finalising compensation plans for affected persons while consultations continue.
Reacting after the meeting, Mr Bayo Adefuye, Chairman of Yaba Local Council Development Area, welcomed the Assembly’s decision and confirmed that relief materials and palliatives are already being distributed by both state and local authorities.
Mr Bayo Adefuye expressed optimism that the committee would conclude its assignment within the stipulated two-week window and urged residents to comply fully with the directives.
