Kwara PDP Gambari appointment: Prince Omar Bolaji Gambari becomes campaign DG as the party prepares for the 2027 governorship election
Prince Omar Bolaji Gambari, a former Peoples Democratic Party governorship aspirant, has been appointed Director-General of the Kwara State PDP Campaign Organisation for the 2027 governorship election.

The appointment was announced after an expanded meeting of the party’s state leadership chaired by Isa Bawa Adamu, the Kwara PDP chairman.
Gambari contested the PDP’s 2026 governorship primary alongside other aspirants, but Suleiman Bolakale Kawu emerged as the party’s candidate.
His new role will see him coordinate the party’s campaign structure and activities across Kwara ahead of the 2027 election.
PDP state publicity secretary Olusegun Adewara confirmed the appointment in a statement on Wednesday.
Adewara said Gambari was among the leading aspirants who participated in the primary won by Kawu, adding that his continued involvement in party activities had helped strengthen the party’s preparations for the next election.
There had been speculation following the primary that Gambari was unhappy with the outcome. The party, however, said the former aspirant remained engaged with its activities after the contest.
The appointment therefore brings one of the party’s former contenders into the campaign structure supporting Kawu’s candidacy.
The PDP said Gambari’s professional background in international law, finance and real estate would be valuable to the organisation of its campaign across the state.
The development comes as the Kwara PDP steps up preparations for the 2027 governorship contest and seeks to consolidate its structure ahead of the election.
The party’s decision also places emphasis on maintaining cohesion among its members who participated in the 2026 primary, particularly as the campaign season approaches.
With Gambari now tasked with coordinating the campaign, attention will turn to how the PDP organises its grassroots structures and presents Kawu’s candidacy to voters across Kwara.
