Speaking on Tuesday during a sensitisation visit to Dass Local Government Area, Abubakar emphasised the importance of registering to vote in the forthcoming elections.
She explained that the voter registration exercise is nationwide and designed to increase awareness among eligible voters.
“It is expected that all eligible voters should obtain their PVCs to allow them to participate fully in the upcoming general election in the country.
It is a civic responsibility of every Nigerian to exercise their right during elections, and the only way is to obtain PVCs,” Abubakar stressed.
In her visit, Abubakar praised Governor Bala Mohammed for the opportunity to serve under his administration and pledged to use her wealth of experience to combat voter apathy.
Her strategy includes advocacy visits to local government chairmen, religious leaders, and traditional rulers to encourage voter participation.
The Chairman of Dass Local Government, Comrade Mohammed Jibo, represented by the Director of Administration and General Services, Bala Duguri, welcomed the sensitisation visit and promised strong grassroots mobilisation to ensure maximum participation. He also assured continued council support in voter awareness efforts.
This push for active electoral participation aligns with the Independent National Electoral Commission’s recent commencement of the nationwide Continuous Voter Registration exercise.
It also follows calls from political support groups, such as BTO4PBAT2027, urging youth in the South-West to register ahead of the 2027 general elections.
