Jolly Nyame Dumps APC Over Alleged Political Marginalisation

Jolly Nyame resigns from APC, alleging marginalisation and unfair treatment of his people in Taraba State ahead of 2027 elections

A former governor of Taraba State and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Jolly Nyame, has resigned from the ruling party, citing alleged marginalisation and persistent political exclusion of his people.

Nyame announced his departure while addressing members of his support group after a Federal High Court ruling in Jalingo, according to a video circulating on social media.

The former governor said his decision followed wide consultations with stakeholders from Zing Local Government Area before resolving to exit the APC in pursuit of a new political platform.

He stated that his move was driven by a desire to continue serving his community, adding that years of loyalty to the party had not translated into fair political inclusion.

“As the Dabon Yarro and leader of the entire Yorro community worldwide, comprising Mumuye, Yandan, Yorti and others, if they will not honour me, who then will they honour among my people?” he said.

Nyame further alleged that his zone had suffered prolonged political neglect and inadequate representation in state affairs, describing the situation as deeply concerning.

He also revealed that there had been growing pressure on him to contest elective office ahead of the 2027 general elections, despite his reluctance to return to frontline politics.

“At my age, it is not a must for me to contest any elective position, but the pressure from the people is enormous,” he said.

He added that many in his community believed their voices had been suppressed for too long, warning that continued silence could worsen their political and social situation.

Nyame urged his supporters to remain united, indicating that he would align with like-minded individuals committed to advancing the interests of his people.
