Jigawa leads Nigeria in Phase II voter registration with 98,698 new registrants, driven by youth and women participation
Jigawa State has emerged as the leading state in Nigeria’s ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, recording the highest number of new registrants nationwide.

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), 1,228,648 eligible Nigerians completed registration under Phase II Week Six of the CVR as of February 13, 2026.
Jigawa accounted for 98,698 new registrants, representing 8.03 per cent of the national total the highest recorded by any state so far.
Following Jigawa, Lagos recorded 86,307 registrations, Sokoto 77,004, and Kano 71,990.
The increase marks a significant rise from the 884,737 registrations recorded at the end of Week Five, reflecting growing citizen engagement across the country.
A total of 673,124 applicants used the online pre-registration portal, while 555,524 completed the process at physical registration centres nationwide.

Young people aged 18–34 accounted for 848,066 registrations, representing 69 per cent of the total. Female registrants numbered 696,891 (57 per cent), males 531,757 (43 per cent), and persons with disabilities (PWDs) 19,414.
