The Resident Electoral Commissioner for Osun State, Mrs Oluwatoyin O. Babalola, disclosed the figure during a courtesy visit to the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Correspondents’ Chapel, where she met with media professionals to review the outcome of the exercise.

Mrs Babalola attributed the success of the registration drive to the cooperation of stakeholders, particularly the media, which she described as instrumental in promoting public awareness and participation.

She commended journalists for their role in strengthening democratic engagement, noting that consistent and accurate reporting has helped build public trust in electoral processes across the state.

According to her, INEC remains committed to conducting credible elections in line with the Electoral Act, the Constitution, and internal operational guidelines.

She added that preparations are already underway for the forthcoming governorship election scheduled for 15 August 2026.

The commission assured residents that it is fully prepared to deploy experienced personnel to ensure a transparent and well-managed electoral process.

Mrs Babalola also raised concern over vote buying, describing it as a criminal act that undermines democratic accountability.

She stressed that INEC does not engage in any form of vote trading and urged voters to act according to their conscience.
