INEC Reports Strong Nationwide Voter Registration Figures

INEC voter registration shows 1.42m pre-registered and 1.02m fully registered nationwide, with Osun topping the charts

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday in Abuja released its latest report on continuous voter registration (CVR), revealing a nationwide total of 1,425,898 pre-registered voters and 1,023,577 fully registered voters, both online and physically.

Osun State led all jurisdictions with 193,026 completed registrations, followed by Imo with 144,209 and Kano at 142,433.

Sokoto recorded 132,584, while Lagos posted 115,334. Borno followed with 112,226, and the Federal Capital Territory accounted for 106,855 completed registrations.

Kogi State achieved 97,012, ahead of Jigawa’s 95,543 and Zamfara’s 90,739. Katsina recorded 87,661, with Kaduna at 82,421. Delta, Kebbi, and Ogun posted 79,495, 77,721, and 77,014 respectively. Niger State completed 73,745 registrations.

Oyo and Akwa Ibom registered 68,559 and 68,464 voters, while Rivers recorded 63,621. Adamawa achieved 52,381, followed by Kwara with 50,221 and Yobe at 49,766. Benue, Bayelsa, and Bauchi recorded 46,802, 41,856, and 37,749 respectively.

Ekiti posted 33,393, Gombe 32,890, and Nasarawa 31,862. Ebonyi achieved 29,102, Edo 27,602, and Plateau 25,301. Taraba, Enugu, and Ondo reported 18,731, 17,234, and 16,709 registrations, while Cross River and Abia recorded 15,339 and 13,875 respectively.

Anambra remained at zero due to the suspension of voter registration following its governorship election, in accordance with Section 9(6) of the Electoral Act 2022.

The CVR exercise, which began on 18 August 2025, is scheduled to conclude in August 2026. States in the South-West, particularly Osun and Lagos, have consistently led in numbers, while recent updates show a rising trend in northern states.

Community organisations, religious leaders, and local officials have actively promoted voter awareness, mobilising eligible residents to register.

INEC officials emphasised the importance of continued participation to ensure broad representation ahead of upcoming elections.
