APC France praises Governor Lawal’s APC defection, calling it a key political boost for President Tinubu and strengthening the party in Nigeria’s North West
The All Progressives Congress (APC) France Chapter has warmly welcomed the defection of Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, to Nigeria’s ruling party, describing it as a major political development that consolidates support for President Bola Tinubu.

In a statement issued in Paris, the chapter’s Chairperson, Amina Suzuki, said Governor Lawal’s decision reflects growing confidence among political leaders and citizens in the reform-driven leadership of President Tinubu.
“The governor’s defection signals a major consolidation of political support in the strategic North West geopolitical zone, which has historically played a decisive role in determining the outcome of presidential elections in Nigeria,” Suzuki said.
She added that the North West remains a key voting bloc, and the realignment in Zamfara highlights the increasing acceptance of the Tinubu administration’s policies.
The APC France Chapter noted that Governor Lawal’s move represents not only a personal political decision but also a broader endorsement of the “Renewed Hope” agenda championed by the ruling party.
Suzuki highlighted that the development strengthens the APC’s structure ahead of upcoming electoral contests and positions the president strongly for a potential re-election.
“As members of the APC in the diaspora, we see this development as a clear indication that the North West is rallying behind President Tinubu. The people of the region understand the importance of stability, economic reforms, and national unity being pursued by this administration,” Suzuki said.
The chapter further announced that Governor Lawal will be honoured as its Patron Designate in recognition of his leadership and decision to join the progressive family.
Suzuki also reaffirmed the commitment of the diaspora to mobilise support, promote the achievements of the Tinubu administration globally, and work with stakeholders across Nigeria to consolidate democratic gains.

She concluded by urging political leaders and citizens to continue supporting the APC-led government to sustain reforms, strengthen national security, and advance Nigeria’s economic recovery.
