Speaking at the event in Uyo, Governor Eno stressed the importance of political maturity and inclusiveness, urging party chieftains to remember that state identity must come before partisan allegiance.
“We would continue to do our very best to unite our state in spite of our political differences,” Eno said.
“Let politics be played with a human face and let us know that after politics, we would all return as Akwa Ibomites.”
In a rare show of bipartisan appreciation, Governor Eno also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his administration’s efforts to encourage financial discipline among states, particularly in discouraging loans for capital projects.
“We commend the President’s efforts to ensure that states do not borrow unnecessarily.
This pushes us to be more creative with funding development,” Eno noted.
The governor’s message resonated with his previous calls for a people-first governance approach, highlighting that development, peace, and unity should not be sacrificed at the altar of political rivalry.
Governor Eno’s remarks come amid growing concerns nationwide over partisan tension and its impact on grassroots development.
