The Federal Capital Territory Minister made the remarks on Wednesday during the commissioning of the 15.13km Ikot Esu-Otomo-Azumini road in Ika Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

Highlighting the importance of unity, Wike said, “Unity brings about development. Working together brings about development. Putting yourself together to be strong brings about development.”

He applauded Governor Umo Eno’s move to collaborate with the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, predicting that this partnership will attract more development projects to the state.

“One good thing you must commend the governor for is his decision, for the interest of Akwa Ibom State, to work together with the Senate President.

You will see more presence and more development in Akwa Ibom,” Wike stated.

Wike also praised the governor’s leadership, citing the newly commissioned Ikot Esu-Otomo-Azumini road as evidence of his dedication to progress.

Reiterating his own commitment to development, Wike emphasised that progress should always come before party affiliation.

He also referenced President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, noting the availability of funds under his administration for state projects.

Governor Umo Eno, speaking earlier, stressed the value of unity in driving development, declaring, “When we unite for progress, it defies politics.”

He thanked the Abia State Governor for collaborating on the road project, which extends across both states.

Expressing strong support for President Bola Tinubu’s second term, Governor Eno said, “We are united to support the president because of all that he’s doing.

We know where he took up from, and we have seen that the economy is stabilising.”

He praised the current administration for providing the funds to carry out projects without incurring debts, assuring that Akwa Ibom would not leave financial burdens for successors.

Eno also urged the Ministry of Works to expedite completion of the Mbiabong-Atan-Ikon-Inya road, warning that failure to finish within three months would lead to contract termination.
