The restriction, which takes effect from midnight on Friday to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, will affect both intra-state and inter-state roads.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sunday Abutu, disclosed this in a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti on Friday.
According to Abutu, the measure forms part of robust security arrangements designed to ensure a peaceful, orderly, and violence-free election.
The ban covers all forms of motorised transportation, including private cars, commercial vehicles, trucks, tricycles, and motorcycles.
However, certain categories of people have been exempted. Students and candidates writing national examinations will be allowed to move to their centres.
Accredited INEC officials, ad-hoc staff, journalists, election observers, medical personnel, and emergency responders will also be permitted to move provided they carry valid identification and clearance tags.
“Travellers intending to pass through the state on election day are therefore advised to make alternative arrangements and use other routes,” the statement warned.
The command further directed that movement of VIPs with armed escorts to polling units and collation centres will not be allowed.
Construction companies undertaking road projects in the state have also been asked to suspend active work during the election period for safety reasons.

Only personnel from recognised security agencies under the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) will be authorised to provide security at polling units and collation centres.
