Edo PDP Demands Transparency in $250m Deal

Edo PDP Demands Transparency in $250m Deal, calling for clarity on Governor Okpebholo’s Glasgow investment announcement

Edo PDP Demands Transparency in the recent $250 million agreement signed by Governor Monday Okpebholo with the European African Chamber of Commerce and Industries, describing the announcement as vague and a growing source of embarrassment for the state.

In a strongly worded statement on Sunday, Daniel Osa-Ogbegie, the Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State, said the party will no longer tolerate “opacity in fiscal dealings.”

He criticised the lack of detail surrounding the deal, signed at the Edo State Global Investment Summit in Glasgow on 25 September 2025.

According to the governor’s spokesperson, Fred Itua, the agreement with EuroAfrica CCI—a conglomerate spanning 98 nations—outlines strategic investments into Edo over a three-to-five-year period. ‘

However, the PDP insists the deal has raised more questions than confidence.

“We will demand clarity on the governor’s claim of a $250 million investment from Glasgow that has become a source of embarrassment to Edo people,” Osa-Ogbegie stated.
“We will question the abandonment of projects from Governor Obaseki’s administration, and shine light on fiscal practices that lack transparency and responsibility.”

The PDP reaffirmed its loyalty to the people of Edo State over any political authority, stressing it would support only policies that positively impact citizens.

“If governance becomes oppressive, wasteful, or deceptive, we will stand with the people,” the spokesperson added.

Osa-Ogbegie also signalled the party’s readiness for fierce political engagements, challenging the APC’s media machinery and government officials to prepare for open accountability.
