Bala Mohammed Sacks Zainab Baban-Takko Abruptly

Bala Mohammed Sacks Zainab Baban-Takko as Bauchi Women Affairs Commissioner, citing minor executive reshuffle. Dismissal takes immediate effect.

Bala Mohammed Sacks Zainab Baban-Takko, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development in Bauchi State, in what has been described as a minor cabinet reshuffle by the governor’s media office.

The announcement was made early Monday by Mukhtar Gidado, the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, who confirmed that the dismissal takes immediate effect.

“This is a minor change to the State Executive Council,” Gidado stated, offering no additional context beyond the standard expression of gratitude.

“The governor thanks the Honourable Commissioner for her services to the state and wishes her success in her future endeavours.”

No replacement has yet been announced, and the abruptness of the move has left political observers in Bauchi speculating over potential undercurrents.

The development follows closely on the heels of disciplinary action taken by the Bauchi State Civil Service Commission, which recently dismissed two senior officials for forgery and another for sexual misconduct.

While no official link has been drawn between these events and Baban-Takko’s dismissal, the timing has added intrigue.

The affected commissioner, Hajiya Zainab Baban-Takko, had served in the Women Affairs and Child Development Ministry during a period marked by increased advocacy for gender equity and social welfare programmes across the state.

Her removal, however low-key in official tone, is seen by insiders as part of a wider recalibration of Governor Mohammed’s executive team ahead of mid-term policy realignments.
