Dickson Claims He Is More Qualified Than Obi and Kwankwaso for Presidency

Dickson Presidential Qualification Claim as Seriake Dickson says he is more qualified than Obi and Kwankwaso but chose not to contest presidency

Senator Seriake Dickson, former Governor of Bayelsa State, on Wednesday declared that he is more qualified to contest Nigeria’s presidency than opposition figures Peter Obi and Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, while stating that he deliberately chose not to pursue the office.

Dickson Presidential Qualification Claim, where the senator addressed questions surrounding the Nigeria Democratic Congress, its leadership structure and its political direction ahead of the 2027 elections.

Dickson insisted that the party provided its presidential platform to Peter Obi without financial inducement, stressing that neither Obi nor his running mate made any payments to secure their nominations.

He argued that the narrative suggesting the party benefited from Obi’s presence was misleading, maintaining instead that the Nigeria Democratic Congress offered him a structured political platform.

The senator further dismissed claims of internal crisis within the party, insisting that Obi remains a valued member and that the leadership is functioning in harmony with its candidates.

A key moment in the interview came when Dickson asserted his own political credentials, stating that he was more qualified than other leading contenders for the presidency but had opted out of the race.

“I think that I have to be given the credit. There is no one more qualified than me to run for the presidency. And for some reasons, I did not want to,” he said.

Claim over Dickson presidential qualification has added fresh debate to discussions around emerging political alignments, as opposition parties continue to reposition ahead of the 2027 general election cycle.

He also criticised supporters of the party who, according to him, undermine its leadership while professing loyalty to its presidential candidate.

Dickson reiterated that the party is not in crisis, describing reports of division as exaggerated and driven by external commentary rather than internal disagreement.
