Peter Obi and Nyesom Wike crossed paths when Peter Obi was governor of Anambra State and Nyesom Wike was Minister of State for Education between 2011 and 2014.
In that period Nyesom Wike visited Anambra to inspect and commission school projects, including renovated secondary schools.
In an online interview, Peter Obi was asked about recent remarks by Nyesom Wike against him and his presidential bid.
Nyesom Wike has said more than once that Peter Obi will never become president of Nigeria, and has backed President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress for 2027.
Peter Obi, the Labour Party candidate in 2023, said he had nothing against the former Rivers State governor.

“Well, if you look at the pictures of Mr Wike when we were moving together, you can see how healthy he is and looking very well. So, that means when we were together, he was a much, much happier person and enjoyed himself,” Peter Obi said. “But let me assure you, I don’t have anything against Mr Wike. He remains a friend and everything. Sometimes, you can have too much money and everything, but you don’t have happiness.”
