The Dele Momodu warns ADC election strategy comment was made during a televised interview, where he stressed that political success requires more than enthusiasm, popularity or rhetoric.
Momodu argued that defeating an incumbent president requires deep organisation, strong structures and coordinated political planning, warning that emotional support alone would not be sufficient.
He described President Tinubu as a highly formidable political figure, insisting that opposition parties must prepare extensively rather than rely on individual popularity or public sentiment.
According to him, electoral victory is determined by logistics, financing, and nationwide coordination, noting that effective monitoring of polling units and grassroots mobilisation remain decisive factors in Nigerian elections.
Momodu also highlighted ethnicity, religion and financial capacity as influential variables in the country’s electoral landscape, adding that opposition parties must be realistic about these dynamics.
He warned that time was running out for the opposition to build consensus, urging urgent dialogue and compromise among key political actors within the ADC.
The media entrepreneur further stated that no individual should claim ownership of the party, stressing that leadership selection must be guided by strategy rather than personal ambition.
Momodu noted that the party already contains experienced political figures capable of navigating national elections, including seasoned contenders familiar with Nigeria’s political structure.
He dismissed arguments around fixed regional power rotation, insisting that the constitution allows open competition regardless of geographical background.
In a strategic suggestion, Momodu advised the ADC to focus attention on northern Nigeria, where he claimed dissatisfaction with the ruling party could create political opportunities.
He concluded by urging unity and pragmatism within the opposition, warning that fragmentation could weaken any challenge against the ruling APC in 2027.
