PDP Clears Dankwambo for Gombe Senate Re-election Bid

Dankwambo PDP Senate clearance confirmed as former Gombe governor secures approval to contest Gombe North senatorial seat in 2027 elections

Former Governor of Gombe State and serving Senator Ibrahim Dankwambo has been cleared by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to contest another term in the National Assembly ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Dankwambo secures PDP senate clearance was confirmed following the approval of aspirants by the party’s screening committee for the forthcoming National Assembly primaries in Gombe State.

Senator Ibrahim Dankwambo, who currently represents Gombe North Senatorial District, is among those endorsed by the party to proceed to the primary election stage.

The development comes amid growing political tension in Gombe North, where reports indicate that Governor Muhammadu Yahaya of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has also been cleared to contest for the same senatorial seat after completing his governorship tenure.

According to a formal communication issued by the PDP State Secretariat and addressed to the National Chairman through the National Organising Secretary, the party forwarded the list of screened and cleared aspirants for both Senate and House of Representatives positions.

The document, signed by the screening committee chairman Mohammed Dan’azumi Adamu, secretary Musa Abubakar, and PDP state secretary Alhaji Adamu Abubakar, confirmed multiple clearances across constituencies in the state.

With the clearance, attention has now shifted to the forthcoming primaries, where internal party contests are expected to intensify ahead of the 2027 elections.
