PDP Replaces Senator Zanna in Jigawa South-West Shock Move

Jigawa PDP senatorial replacement confirmed as Senator Zanna loses ticket to Aminu Wada ahead of the 2027 general elections

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has replaced Senator Mustapha Khabeeb, popularly known as Senator Zanna, as its candidate for Jigawa South-West Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Jigawa PDP senatorial replacement follows the party’s decision to present Aminu Wada as its new flagbearer for the district, marking a significant shift in the political landscape of Jigawa State.

Senator Mustapha Khabeeb, who represented Jigawa South-West under the PDP after the 2023 general elections, reportedly did not purchase a nomination form or participate in the party’s primary process, effectively signalling his withdrawal from the contest.

Party insiders linked the development to mounting criticism from constituents who had allegedly expressed dissatisfaction with his performance in office.

During an affirmation ceremony held in Dutse, Mustapha Sule Lamido expressed confidence that the PDP would retain the senatorial seat, describing the zone as a stronghold of the party and urging unity among members ahead of the elections.

He dismissed claims by opposition figures that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would reclaim the district, insisting the PDP remains well positioned for victory.

The PDP State Chairman, Babandi Ibrahim Gumel, also confirmed that all senatorial candidates in the state emerged through consensus arrangements within the party.
