ADC Osun Governorship Election is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated political battles in 2026, as former Interior Minister and ADC Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola, boldly voiced his optimism about the party’s chances.

Speaking at the 60th birthday celebration of ex-Osun House Speaker Dr. Najeem Salaam in Osogbo, Aregbesola underscored his faith that “God is with ADC” and that the party will ultimately triumph in the upcoming election.
“I don’t want to offend the current administration, but I am very sure that it is our own that God will do,” he said with quiet confidence.
The event also spotlighted key democratic challenges facing Nigeria, with political science expert Prof. Shola Omotola highlighting the damaging effects of party switching, also known as carpet crossing.
According to Omotola, this practice weakens legislative contributions and democratic progress, calling for legal reforms and strict sanctions to curb unnecessary defections.
Adding a personal touch to the gathering, Speaker of the Osun House, Wale Egbedun, lauded Dr. Salaam as a “role model” who demonstrated firm leadership and unwavering commitment during his tenure.
