Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow and condemnation over the tragic death of Somtochukwu Maduagwu, a promising news anchor with Arise News Television.

The journalist lost her life following a brutal robbery attack at her home in Katampe, Abuja.
In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Bola Tinubu described Somtochukwu, affectionately known as Sommie, as “a promising professional whose life was cruelly and condemnably cut short.”
President Bola Tinubu extended heartfelt condolences to the family of the late journalist, as well as to the management and staff of Arise News Television, and the entire Nigerian media community.
He acknowledged that the loss was deeply personal to the family and a grievous blow to the nation.
Tinubu has directed security and law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough and swift investigation into the incident, ensuring that those responsible are apprehended and brought to justice without delay.
The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, promising ongoing efforts to tackle crime in all its forms across Nigeria.
Reports revealed that Somtochukwu jumped from her home upon learning that armed robbers had invaded the building.
Though she survived the fall, colleagues have raised serious concerns that her death was preventable due to alleged refusal of timely medical attention.
